2014 WINTER GOALKEEPING CAMP

This two-day camp will focus on the technical and tactical skills needed to succeed in one of the most demanding and unique positions in all of team sports. Sessions for the weekend will be conducted by the University of Akron Goalkeeping Coach, Stuart Dobson. Coach Dobson will be assisted by current and former zips goalkeepers as well as other collegiate level goalkeeping coaches.
Akron Soccer is becoming known as a breading ground for top-flight collegiate and professional goalkeepers. Our experienced staff will teach you the key technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of this crucial position.
Campers should be ready for camp to commence on Friday evening after 6pm. One session on Friday evening with camp running throughout the day on Saturday. A final camp itinerary and confirmation will be sent to each camper prior to camp.
Coach Stuart Dobson
Coach Dobson joins the Zips staff after spending the last four seasons in the same capacity at University of California Santa Barbara. During his time at UCSB Coach Dobson mentored three straight professional goalkeepers in David Meves (Portland Timbers), Dan Kennedy (Chivas USA), Kyle Reynish (Real Salt Lake) and Sam Hayden (Ventura Fusion USL).
Coach Dobson, who enjoyed a 15-year professional playing career as a goalkeeper in both the U.S. and overseas, was brought into the U.S. Women's Under-23 National Team training camp last year to evaluate and develop goalkeepers for selection to the U-23 team, Olympic team and eventually the full national side.
Coach Dobson, who also coached goalkeepers for the women's team during his time at UCSB, is currently the 'keepers coach on the Super Y-League National Team and spent the 2007-08 season coaching the New Jersey Ironmen of the Major Indoor Soccer League where he worked with former U.S. National Team captain and Major League Soccer MVP Tony Meola.
The Winter Goalkeeping Camp will be held in the University of Akron Men's Soccer indoor training complex, Stiles Atheltics Field House. The Athletics Field House is a 120 yard long field turf soccer field. To view images of the Stile Athletics Field House, go online to www.gozips.com.
Housing and Meals
Housing and meals are not included in the camp price therefore players who are attending from outside the area will need to make their own arrangements prior to attending camp. Who Can Attend
Camp is open to boys and girls ages 7-18. Spots are very limited and players will be grouped by age and ability. Please state your position when registering for camp.
