Jared Embick, the 2010 NSCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year has been part of the Akron staff for the past eight years, prior to being named the program's Head Coach in November 2012. During his time as the Associate Head Coach, Embick's primary responsibilities on the staff included recruiting, scouting, game-day preparation and working with the teams strikers, which have included #1 MLS Draftee Steve Zakuani, Sporting KC's Teal Bunbury, 2011 #2 overall draftee Darlington Nagbe, the 2012 MLS #2 overall draft pick Darren Mattocks, and most recently the #7 overall draft pick Richmond Laryea.
During Embick's time at Akron, the Zips have appeared in back-to-back NCAA Championship games and advanced to the round of 16 in each of the last four post-season tournaments, and advanced to the NCAA Division I College Cup during the Fall of 2015.
Additionally, UA recruits have garnered nationally acclaim during his stay. Akron secured the top recruiting class in the nation in 2012 and 2009 after earning a No. 5 designation for 2008.
Ger Coppinger is in his first season on the Zips' staff after spending the past four seasons on the Missouri State coaching staff where he was tasked with the training of the Bears' goalkeepers, while also assisting on the recruiting front.
