The focus of this camp will be on the development of soccer players at every level. The mission of the Advanced Camp is to provide a challenging environment of intense training with an extreme focus on the technical ability of each player. Exercises and games will be specifically designed to keep players under constant pressure throughout the week resulting in a higher “comfort level” on the ball. This camp is not an introduction to soccer, but should be used to enhance and refine existing skills through repetition and proper instruction. Campers will initially be grouped by age and adjustments will be made according to skill levels in order to create a learning environment that further challenges each individual. Every day will incorporate three field sessions consisting of: individual ball skills, technical training, tactical training, and small sided/full sided games. *Technical Development is the main priority of this camp and is suited for players of all ages and skill levels.
Goalkeeping SessionsSpecialized goalkeeping sessions are held each week of camp. Akron is becoming known as the breeding ground for top-flight goalkeepers. At the Akron Soccer Camp the goalkeeper is not the “forgotten player.” Our experienced goalkeeping staff will teach you the key technical, tactical, psychological, and physical aspects of this crucial position. Individualized training and evaluation is only one aspect of our goalkeeping program.
The training experience is further enhanced as the goalkeepers are incorporated into small and large group tactical and technical training activities with the field players. These match-related activities provide the goalkeepers an opportunity to blend technical fundamentals with tactical decision making. The goalkeepers are also evaluated as they perform in 11v11 matches everyday. The combination of individual and team training is an integral part in the development of a goalkeeper. Team CampBased on requests from teams, we are offering a team camp option as part of our residential camp week. Teams that register 14 or more players will be given a free spot for a coach to attend (room and board). Topics covered will include technical and tactical training, team defensive and offensive organization and restarts. Each team will play two games each day to provide the opportunity to transfer its newly acquired training into a game situation. Teams should register all together. For information on team discounts contact the camp office.
